Mike Nova as Elvis
You could say Mike Nova began his tribute to Elvis Presley before the King's untimely death. By sheer chance, Mike caught the Elvis movie ' Loving You ' on TV at home in 1975 and was hooked from that very moment and decided he was going to become a performer! In 2007 Mike entered for the annual Elvis European Championships held in Blackpool. The contest was a whole new concept and Mike went on to make some very good friends within the business and still performs with these friends today. The following year, Mike entered the contest again and was granted a place in the grand final. In 2009, Mike Nova was placed runner-up in the European Championships. In 2010, Mike entered two other contests, the Best UK Elvis and King Of The Waves Contest. For the Best UK Elvis, Mike had to win 2 heats to get through to the grand final. Mike was placed first in both heats and went through to the grand final, to be held in Memphis USA. Mike travelled to Memphis and was crowned Best UK Elvis Champion.
The King Of The Waves contest was to be held on the maiden voyage of The Independence Of The Seas cruise liner and Mike was up against 40 other Elvis tributes but again, went on to be crowned the champion. In 2011, Mike was offered the chance to direct and produce his own theatre show at the largest Elvis festival in the world, which takes place every September in Porthcawl, South Wales. The show entitled ' Elvis The Hollywood Years ' was a sure fire hit with the audience thus allowing Mike to produce the show for venues across England, Ireland and overseas and the show is getting more popular every year and Mike has had some of Elvis Presley's co-stars from his movies as guests in the show. Mike has appeared on mainstream TV several times including, Gavin and Stacey, Goldenballs and more recently for the Nations Favourite Elvis Song. Mike has also performed on BBC Radio on numerous occasions.
